From Steve:

“When researching for my dissertation, I was fortunate to meet several heart patients whose close call with death gave them a huge appreciation for life. They left me with an important reminder: search out now what we need and hope for, regain our positive mental attitude, and open up to life’s richness today.

How did humanity originally find its wellness, before civilization thrust its walls of concrete and pavement between ourselves and the Earth? I learned of the ancient, easily reached, trance-like state called the shamanic journey, where problem-solving and decision-making played out in fantastic images of power animals and teachers. I realized these figures were a valuable tool for imagery when clients pursued the self-help strategy of hypnosis.

Like the shamanic journey, the hypnotic state encourages heightened imagery along with relaxed concentration. This state supports a raised awareness where one is free to face issues and challenges, shed outworn ways of living, and determine personal direction.

In the shamanic journey, this relaxed state of heightened imagery is induced by the repetitive beat of a drum or ‘swoosh’ of a rattle. During hypnosis, this state is normally coached by the verbal, suggestive guidance of a skilled hypnotist. Realizing from my own experience how both deep hypnosis and the shamanic journey can facilitate our openness to change and assist us in the recovery of our potential, I began to integrate these in hypnosis.

We no longer need the beat of an actual drum, but can encourage relaxed concentration and heightened imagery by listening to a soft background of isochronic tones or monaural beats embedded comfortably in soothing music or the sounds of nature.

Discover how ancient shamanic images and contemporary hypnosis combine to help you let go of that which no longer serves you, where you can rediscover your self-direction and reach decisions. Your life is your opportunity; a gift you truly deserve.”
